An event to Print, Tuft & Fold…

The background

Print, Tuft & Fold (PTF) is a collective of textile designers who met whilst studying at the infamous Chelsea College of Art. The three designers create different design pieces showing how versatile textiles can be. Over the past couple of years they have juggled full time jobs during the day and designing and creating during the night. The hard work has paid off and they have received some great press and interest in their work. Recently being featured in the October edition of Elle Decoration Magazine amongst others.

As they have been in operation for a couple of years they didn’t want a traditional launch event, instead opting for a press day with a twist. This is where Dome Events Management stepped in to lighten the load and get creative.

The Brief

PTF wanted to hold the event in London where they are based, ideally the space needed to have two rooms plus an area for networking. Dome Events Management were lucky enough to stubble across a great new arts space which had just opened up a stones throw away from Spitalfields Market; it was love at first sight and the venue was booked.

The main brief set by PTF was simple

  • Create a PR campaign which would grab people’s attention
  • Manage an event over a lunch time to showcase the new line of work
  • Get the right people through the door or interested in the work
  • PTF didn’t want hordes of people through the door, they wanted the right people.

    The solution

Are you on the list? Everyone wants to be on the list don’t they?

The team at Dome Events Management used a mix of snail mail and media to create the campaign. Teasers were sent out in the form of cards which simply asked ‘Are you on the list?’ on the back was a link to a webpage where guests could log onto and RSVP. Once guests logged on they could see images of all of the work.  This was followed up by little parcels with images of the design work inside.

PTF’s twitter pages were updated in the lead up the event, as part of the package.

Dome Events Management was supported by Glimpse Online and Chelsea College of Art Alumni association to create a media buzz.

The showcase was informal, with the work being photographed during the event time, guests came and went as they pleased, wine and canapés were served, and PTF made some great contacts, and were more than happy with the turn out.
